EAA Headquarters – September 5, 2007 – The Fall flying season has nearly arrived and now is a great time to share the sky with a few more Young Eagles. Fall flying provides the opportunity to enjoy some great weather and superb scenery. Now is also the perfect time to make sure you have flown your “10 for 2007.”
All pilots who fly and register 10 or more Young Eagles during the calendar year earn credits that can be used to help sponsor a young person to attend an EAA Air Academy session next summer. Many individual members and chapters pool their credits to establish significant scholarship funds each year. You can do the same.
Since 1995, we have encouraged all Young Eagle pilots to fly at least 10 youngsters each year. Pilots reaching this level of participation receive a set of custom lapel wings signifying their accomplishment in addition to earning Young Eagle credits.
We certainly know many of our pilots fly more than 10 Young Eagles each year. For example, this year’s average so far is 13 Young Eagles per pilot. However, there are many pilots who fall one or two short of reaching our recognition level.
Check your flight bag, desk and seatback for any Young Eagle registration forms you may still have and send them in so we can properly credit you and your Young Eagle!
If you are still a few missions shy of your 10 for 2007, take advantage of the season and have fun flying some Young Eagles!
