The EAA Internship Program encourages, recognizes and supports excellence among EAA members pursuing aviation and aviation-related careers.

INTERNSHIP APPLICANTS
Applicants must be willing to provide support for EAA and the EAA Air Academy youth programs. Duties for interns may range from assisting in research and filing in the Boeing Aeronautical Library to moving and securing aircraft and minor maintenance of buildings, grounds and aircraft.

You must also be a current member of EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) or recommended by a current EAA member to apply for these internships. Learn more about joining EAA (www.eaa.org) or call 800.843.3612. Individual and student memberships are available.

The EAA Internship program offers a direct benefit to current EAA members. Individual or student members must be current, active members from the date of the internship application through the date it is awarded.

EAA Air Academy - EADS Socata Internship - 2 Interns
Deadline for application - February 28, 2011

EADS Socata has created an internship fund for two young students (one male, one female), college junior or seniors, intending to pursue a career in aviation. The internship will provide an opportunity for each young person to visit France for an internship of five weeks duration in June and July 2008. They will work at an EADS Socata facility and be exposed to a variety of aviation disciplines. Each award winner will conclude their summer by attending a week-long session of the EAA Advanced Air Academy in Oshkosh, providing mentorship opportunities to young people aged 16-18 who are participating in the camp. This will include an opportunity to visit and experience the world’s greatest aviation celebration, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.
Round-trip transportation will be provided from the USA to France, as well as local transportation in France and accommodations in the homes of EADS Socata staff members. The scholarship also includes round-trip transportation to AirVenture in Oshkosh, local transportation and accommodations at the EAA Air Academy.
Knowledge of French would enhance the experience but is not an absolute requirement. Applicants must be in full-time education and able to demonstrate an interest in aeronautical career - engineering, marketing, manufacturing, or other areas focused on aviation. Applicants must be US or Canadian citizens and able to obtain their own passport. They should also be flexible and adaptable to living in an environment and culture that may be different from their own.

EAA Air Academy - Cliff Robertson Work Experience Program – 2 people, ages 16 or 17 years old

Two internships will provide the opportunity to work in the EAA AirVenture Museum, historic Pioneer Airport, EAA Air Academy, and at EAA AirVenture 2009, the world’s premier aviation event. Assistance at all EAA Air Academy programs is a requirement of this program. This position requires the ability to deal effectively, tactfully and pleasantly with volunteers, staff, program participants and Museum visitors. Strong verbal and written skills and the ability to work independently and in groups are required. Stipends of approximately $750 per person and travel subsidy are possible. Funded by James C. Ray and the Ray Foundation.

The third Cliff Robertson Work Experience participant must be a current and competent CFI. The primary role will be that of instructor and mentor for all EAA Air Academy summer youth programs. This position requires the ability to deal effectively, tactfully and pleasantly with volunteers, staff, program participants and Museum visitors. Strong verbal and written skills and the ability to work independently and in groups are required. A stipend of approximately $1,250 and travel subsidy is possible. Funded by James C. EAA Air Academy - Doolittle Raiders Internship – 1 Certified Flight Instructor
Deadline for application - February 28, 2011

The primary role will be to serve as an instructor and mentor at all EAA Air Academy summer youth programs. The Doolittle Raiders intern must be a current and competent CFI. This position requires the ability to deal effectively, tactfully and pleasantly with volunteers, staff, program participants and Museum visitors. Strong verbal and written skills and the ability to work independently and in groups are required. A stipend of approximately $1,250 and travel subsidy is possible. Funded by an endowment from the survivors of the original 80 participants in the epic WWII air raid on Tokyo, Japan.

EAA Air Academy - Women Airforce Service Pilots (W.A.S.P.) Internship – 1 intern
Deadline for application - This internship does not have an application deadline but selection decisions are expected to be made by May 15, 2010.

This internship provides opportunities for women’s aviation studies. The primary role of the WASP intern will be to work with the EAA Air Academy summer youth programs. Participants may receive ground and flight instruction. Ongoing goals of the program focus on women’s aviation accomplishments in the past and present, as well as encouraging future female leadership in the field. These goals are accomplished as the interns research and prepare presentations for EAA Air Academy participants on the roles women have played in aviation. This position requires the ability to deal effectively, tactfully and pleasantly with volunteers, staff, program participants and Museum visitors. Strong verbal and written skills and the ability to work independently and in groups are required. A stipend of approximately $750 and travel subsidy are possible. Interns must be at least 18 years of age by the start of the internship. Funded by the Women Airforce Service Pilots, WWII, Inc., its individual members and other interested parties.

EAA AirVenture Museum - Timken Aviation Studies Internships - 2 interns
Deadline for application - This internship does not have an application deadline but selection decisions are expected to be made by May 15 each year.

These internships provide for college-level interns to study the role of women in the past, present and future of aviation. The internships are attached to the EAA AirVenture Museum. Projects will vary, but in the past have included historical research and presentation, oral history projects and projects leading to exhibit content in the museum. Ideally, interns should aspire to be future professionals in the aviation industry. This position requires the ability to deal effectively, tactfully and pleasantly with volunteers, staff, program participants and Museum visitors. Strong verbal and written skills and the ability to work independently and in groups are required. A stipend of approximately $3,000 per intern is available. Travel and lodging are the responsibility of the intern. Funded by the Louise H. Timken "Young Women in Aviation" endowment.

EAA AirVenture Museum - Wittman Aviation Studies Internship – 1 intern
Deadline for application - This internship does not have an application deadline but selection decisions are expected to be made by May 15 each year.

The primary role for the Wittman Aviation Studies Intern will be to work with the collections department of the EAA AirVenture Museum. The work will be in support of the museum’s artifact management program and is suitable for a person with curatorial work. Duties may include cataloging, moving, and researching artifacts in the museum collection. This position requires the ability to deal effectively, tactfully and pleasantly with volunteers, staff, program participants and Museum visitors. Strong verbal and written skills and the ability to work independently and in groups are required. A stipend of approximately $2,500 is provided. Travel and lodging are the responsibility of the intern. Interns must be at least 18 years of age by the start of the internship. Funded by an endowment from the estate of Steve and Paula Wittman.
